The technical and financial partners in Mali

Mali enjoys significant support from the international community partly because of very good progress in democratic governance, promising progress in the process of decentralization, and political will displayed on the implementation of certain macroeconomic reforms and structural changes.

In 2006, technical and financial partners are committed to accompany Mali in the implementation of the Strategic Framework for Growth and Poverty Reduction (SFGPR 2007-2011), while working towards greater harmonization of their interventions , in accordance with the principles of the Paris Declaration on aid effectiveness. Seven of them (European Union, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Canada, World Bank, Switzerland ) have signed a framework agreement with the Government on the budgetary support at the international workshop in Bamako monitoring the Paris Declaration.

In this context, a significant and growing share of official development assistance for Mali should quickly pass through the budget of the state and its national procedures. It is this worry of harmonization that led TFPs present in Mali , including the United Nations System, to consider joint programming of their contributions to reach a maximum synergies and complementarities for the coming years while relying on the added value of each. A mechanism for inter-TFP exists, including a monthly meeting of heads of missions and thematic groups.
